And just like that...

And just like that, they grow up. I remember being in the grocery store with my 8-week old twins, when someone said, "Enjoy it. Before you know it, they'll be off to school."

How has that day arrived already? The girls are starting junior kindergarten (JK) tomorrow morning. There are so many milestones in the life of a child. This one feels significant for me too (no doubt others will as well).

We spent a while this morning looking through old photos and videos. It wasn't planned, but ended up being a lot of fun for us all. We watched an 1-year old old Quinn take wobbly steps while Finn walked close by. We watched an 8-month old Teagan blow raspberries over and over again while I tried to feed her, eventually smiling because she knew exactly what she was doing. We watched a babbling conversation go on between an infant T&Q. We smiled and laughed until we cried.

I keep saying that I know JK will be good for the girls. It will. Once they adjust, they'll love it and thrive. As my friend just texted me about tomorrow morning, "I just want it over with." The anticipation is the hardest part. This doesn't make it easier to imagine the little babies from those videos having to deal with big kid problems.

The kids fell asleep early and this Mommy needs a good sleep as well. Stay tuned for an update on day #1 (and a regular return to blogging).

  1. Aww. Hope they have a great first day and a great year. I was a mess when both of mine started and now Ian is starting grade one and that feels like a big milestone too. Time really does need to slow down.

    1. Seriously! The days can sometimes feel soooo long (and painful!), but then, in the blink of an eye, they're off to school!

  2. I was soooooo nostalgic the weeks leading up to LM starting kindergarten. It really does go by in a flash. I can't even imagine how quick it would with twins as it seems this time is really flying by because we have two and so hectic that Boo's milestones are not exclaimed from atop the highest mountains like we did with him.

I cannot wait to see pictures!!!! And, did I read correctly?! A return to blogging?!? With that long overdue summer bucket list, right? Lol! Hope you are feeling good, Mama!

    1. It's funny you say that about Boo. I feel like I often forget that I'm pregnant. I'm so busy with the other two, I forget about this little life (that I wanted so much!) growing inside of me. I feel so guilty saying that. Last time, it was all about the twins and every day/week that went by with them in my tummy.

And yes, I need to do a summer recap and will start blogging regularly again. Maybe a fall bucket list? ;)

  3. It does go by fast! Get ready for complete exhaustion in the evenings for a little while. I always find them cranky and ready to pass out before dinner. :/ Hope the girls had a great first day!

  5. It really does seem like like it happened "just like that"
Where did our babies go?! I hope it is going well, the boys are finally settled into their new routine although I think an afternoon catnap may need to be incorporated if they don't start sleeping past 5:30am. We have an early bedtime but they are miserable in the afternoons!
